Consider the gear ratios of a simple 6-speed bike. It has two drive-gears in the front (18 sprockets and 12 sprockets), and three driven-gears in the back (6, 8, and 12 sprockets). Which combination makes the bike easier to pedal: 18-to-12 or 12-to-6? *

• A: 18-to-12 is easier to pedal, and makes the bike move faster.
• B: 12-to-6 is easier to pedal, and makes the bike move faster.
• C: 18-to-12 is easier to pedal, but makes the bike move slower.
